The people behind the bench in Kuta
A family silversmith studio teaching visitors to make their own .925 sterling silver, one small class at a time, since 2023.
One bench, one father, one very patient son
Wayan grew up in Celuk, the village south of Ubud where Balinese silver has been worked for generations. He came to Kuta in 2004 to make jewellery for the jewellery shops around Kuta and Legian, and spent nearly twenty years watching visitors buy pieces without ever seeing how they were made.
In 2023 he put a second stool beside his workbench and invited a guest from the guesthouse next door to try. She left with a crooked, beautiful, entirely hand made ring. We have been teaching ever since.

Where our smiths trained
Open air, cold drinks, no rush
The workshop is a shaded pavilion behind a family compound: six benches, a hand cranked rolling mill, a wall of files and stamps, and a frangipani tree that drops flowers into the polishing tray.
- Six people per class, so the smith stands beside you
- You hold the torch yourself, soldering included
- Celuk technique: jawan granulation, hand stamping, forged textures
- One price on the website and the same price at the bench
- Free pickup and drop off anywhere in Kuta, Legian and Seminyak for two or more
